How I Became a New New Orleanian

Arianne_TorresSchneider_4153348

I’d heard rumors that there were hurricanes in New Orleans. The sun beaming through the palm trees melted those concerns away during my tour of Loyola in 2003. New Orleans had me at tropical – it was my choice to disregard the storm part.

The Peter Mayer Kool-Aid: Just the right flavor

Featured

A little over a year ago, I flew from Philadelphia to New Orleans to meet many of the people that would become very near and dear to me in just a short time.

Let me put a caveat on that sentence: “near” can admittedly sometimes be a little too close, and the “dear” part – well, there are, of course, moments when that’s not really the case. But most days, I thank my lucky stars that I get to barrel down the halls with the bulldogs and mad scientists that I do.

After numerous interviews, a blood oath to the city of New Orleans (that part was my favorite) and confirmation that my character

From Yinz to Yat, or, Pittsburgher to New Orleanian

Featured

My bright-red sneakers dance to a different drum in New Orleans, and it is not just a during a second-line parade. But what does it mean to become a New Orleanian?

Moving to New Orleans from Pittsburgh was easily one of the best decisions I have ever made. Within 30 seconds of the New Orleans summer air hitting my face, two things happened: 1. I began sweating

Dog Day Afterstorm

Dog Day Afterstorm

Almost all of New Orleans is without power, but not our offices on Camp Street. So on Thursday, August 30th, just as Isaac was heading out of New Orleans, a small krewe of Peter Mayer people headed downtown to do a little work, plug in our depleted devices and enjoy the air-conditioning. And our best friends came with us. Just like any other day in advertising, there was minimal growling, a lot of jumping up and down, and fair amount of pacing the halls. It made a tough day pass much more quickly.
