Once again, Zatarain’s and the Peter Mayer Bean Team have received recognition from the national advertising community. It all started with a Best in Show for the Zatarain’s streetcar stop bean art display at New Orleans’ ADDY Awards. This jaw-dropping display celebrates the culture of New Orleans and was created to wow visitors in town for the Super Bowl. From the local ADDY Awards show it advanced to the regional ADDY Awards in Birmingham on April 10, where it came out a winner with a Judges Choice Award and Gold awards in both the Direct Marketing Out of Home and Non-traditional Advertising categories. And on May 29, Zatarain’s won a Silver award at the ADDY Awards in Boca Raton, Fla., in the Non-traditional Advertising category.
According to Creative Director Tony Norman, “Being the host city for the Super Bowl allowed us a high-profile window within which to remind visitors that they were in Zatarain’s hometown. Creating a work of “bean art” reinforced our connection to the culinary culture of New Orleans in an offbeat and unexpected way.” Norman’s team on this project included Associate Creative Director Richard Landry, Associate Creative Director Maureen Bongiovanni, Senior Art Director Blake Young and Senior Print Producer Shari Knowles.
The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest and most representative competition, attracting over 50,000 entries every year in local ADDY competitions. The mission of the ADDY competition is to recognize and reward creative excellence in the field of advertising.
