During its 57th annual Adrian Awards Gala Monday night, the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) recognized Peter Mayer and our client, the Emerald Coast CVB with a Platinum Adrian award for public relations excellence in the TV Feature Placement category. Larry Lovell, Peter Mayer Public Relations Management Supervisor, attended the black-tie affair, which hosted more than 1,000 hospitality, travel and tourism marketing executives at the New York Marriott Marquis, and accepted the award on his team’s behalf.

The Adrian Awards are the largest and most prestigious global travel marketing competition. This year’s contest attracted more than 1,200 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry.

“As the advertising, public relations and digital marketing realms are constantly evolving, the bar is continuously set higher annually in regard to the Adrian Awards submissions we receive,” said Fran Brasseux, HSMAI executive vice president. “This year, we saw outstanding entries in all categories and in particular an ability to implement integrated campaigns that garnered powerful results across multiple channels.” Peter Mayer and our client, Emerald Coast CVB, were recognized in the TV feature placement category for our promotion of the Doolittle Raiders’ 71st reunion.

In April 2013, Peter Mayer worked in partnership with the Emerald Coast CVB and the Greater Ft. Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce to publicize the Doolittle Raiders’ 71stand final reunion. The event included flights aboard historic B-25 bombers for members of the public, commemorative anniversary reunion events at Eglin Air Force Base and flights by historic military aircraft above the beaches of Ft. Walton, Destin and Okaloosa Island that comprise the Heart of Florida’s Emerald Coast. The public relations efforts generated a two-minute feature segment on the Doolittle anniversary and reunion by FOX News that ran twice on April 18, 2013, on two of the network’s newscasts, reaching millions of viewers. It was this segment that earned us the HSMAI Platinum Adrian Award.

“The Doolittle Raiders are true American heroes, and we were privileged to have had these gentlemen return to the Emerald Coast to mark the end of an era,” says Emerald Coast CVB Executive Director Ed Schroeder. “Our destination served as the training grounds for their historic military response to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor during World War II, and to have them return to where it all began 71 years earlier was a homecoming the area won’t soon forget. It was very special to be the backdrop for one of the great stories of 20th century American history and to have the national media cover such an important story here on the Emerald Coast.”

Peter Mayer couldn’t be more proud of our Public Relations team’s efforts in support of this event. As the agency of record for the Emerald Coast CVB, we are honored to accept this award with them, and we look forward to future opportunities to showcase their beautiful destination.
