The Peter Mayer Kool-Aid: Just the right flavor

A little over a year ago, I flew from Philadelphia to New Orleans to meet many of the people that would become very near and dear to me in just a short time.

Let me put a caveat on that sentence: “near” can admittedly sometimes be a little too close, and the “dear” part – well, there are, of course, moments when that’s not really the case. But most days, I thank my lucky stars that I get to barrel down the halls with the bulldogs and mad scientists that I do.

After numerous interviews, a blood oath to the city of New Orleans (that part was my favorite) and confirmation that my character is, in fact, devoid of any and all moral turpitude, I was in. Hallelujah! I could stop stalking HR once and for all (which I am sure they were happy about, too).

Like any agency, the pace is fast, the beat unrelenting, and a thick skin will serve you well. That said, there is a palpable magic in the air that is specific to Peter Mayer and Peter Mayer alone. It’s a “we can do it better” chip on the shoulder, camaraderie for miles, and a persistent desire for evolution and improvement that drives us – and it’s not always pretty. We don’t favor the expected or easy roads and we disagree with each other every chance we get; it’s what makes us tick.

We like to get dirty and we get a kick out of chaos. It’s not unusual for a meeting to seem like a mud wrestling match, but never a bloodbath. Every room is full of big personalities and bigger opinions, but all come with respect. Every creaky floorboard has a story to tell, and every elevator ride is a gamble we take. We’re Peter Mayer, gosh darnit. And we want you to be a part of the fun, too.

Never have I felt more at home. Never have I laughed so much or appreciated the impossible gumption and intelligence surrounding me. So I get it. After a year here, I understand why many of the tenures at Peter Mayer triple the industry norm. I’m not one for Kool-Aid sippin,’ but, wherever you are, whoever you are, if you haven’t had a taste of Peter Mayer, I suggest you give it a try.
