Peter Mayer’s public relations team was tapped by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to design a promotion in the Shreveport-Bossier area supporting the company’s health advocacy position. Building upon momentum from the Blue Cross “Take Your Best Shot” flu shot marketing campaign, Peter Mayer planned and executed a series of free community flu shot events in partnership with the American Red Cross of Northwest Louisiana.
The American Red Cross supplied flu vaccinations and a team of volunteer nurses, and Blue Cross donated iPods and iPads for an event raffle drawing. The Peter Mayer team managed the production of event flyers and raffle tickets, as well as vehicle magnets for the Blue Cross Flu Shot Mobile. Townsquare Media served as the promotion’s radio partner, with three of its stations participating in live radio remotes to publicize the events.
The flu shot events were extremely well received in the Shreveport-Bossier community, with large crowds in attendance at all three events. In total, 278 flu shots were distributed at three separate events, and about 300 people entered the prize raffle. A number of local media outlets covered the flu shot events, including The Times, KTBS-TV (ABC), KTAL-TV (NBC) and KMSS-TV (FOX).
