In order to help New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC) promote special summer rates at hotels throughout the city, Peter Mayer developed an innovative tool – the “summer deal map,” which launched today.
Instead of a simple list of hotels offering reduced rates, deal map users have access to a dynamic, interactive map that features participating hotels, along with nearby restaurants, shops, live music venues and other attractions. Potential visitors not only see the special rate offered by a particular hotel, they also see where in the city they would be staying if they were to book, as well as what there is for them to see and do in the area. In function, the deal map is both a booking engine and a vacation planning tool. Peter Mayer’s interactive department developed the interface using the Google Javascript API.
