Smoothie King Center PR

Industry: Tourism, Attractions & Hospitality Media Types: Public Relations

When Smoothie King purchased the naming rights for the New Orleans Arena, rebranding it as the Smoothie King Center, it turned to our public relations team to announce it in a big way. To maximize the buzz, we provided exclusive advance stories to national and local publications and kept the announcement secret until 9pm the night before the press conference. The NBA commissioner, the governor, the mayor and representatives from the New Orleans Pelicans and Smoothie King all came together to reveal the partnership that aligned the athletic-friendly Smoothie King with the NBA, generating more than 2,000 stories worldwide and millions of dollars in PR value.

All local television and print media were in attendance, in addition to Pelicans bloggers and Pelicans owner Tom Benson’s media outlet, FOX Sports New Orleans, which all covered the event.
